Grow me a Sandwich!

A Charlestown community coup d’etat

A sandwich-space represents a new type of social- economical urban space where a variety of stakeholders could equally get a piece of the sandwich by engaging in the practices of growing, maintaining, harvesting, cooking, and distributing the edible landscape. What is a community garden? And what does it take to make it productive enough to feed a group of people? Finally, what are the possible profiles of a lively garden around which all of the daily activities could take part? Eating should be considered a social practice that interconnects with systems of provision and that involves both people preparing food produce, those transforming that food into meals, and the shared experience of eating a meal. By constructing a walkable, lively, food-sufficient community under extreme weather, we shout with fulfillment, ‘Grow me a sandwich!’
